Radius PPG®

Tetherless Pulse Oximetry

Combine the freedom of tetherless monitoring with the clinically proven performance of Masimo SET® pulse oximetry.

  • Enables untethered movement and uninterrupted, reliable monitoring
  • Integrates seamlessly across Masimo platforms and compatible with select third-party monitors
  • Designed for use across patient populations and care environments

Continuous Monitoring—Without the Cables

Radius PPG gives your patients the freedom to ambulate while remaining
continuously and reliably monitored with technology you can trust.

Comfort for Patients. Confidence for Caregivers.

  • Enables untethered movement around the hospital room and beyond
  • Supports uninterrupted bonding without cables tugging on fragile skin
  • Allows quick sensor site checks with readily available replacement tapes—without interrupting monitoring

Streamlined Workflow and Efficiency

  • Reduces the burden of cable management and potentially reduces “sensor off” alarms
  • Eliminates the need to disconnect and reconnect the sensor each time a patient gets out of bed
  • Allows clinicians to replace only the adhesive components of the sensor, maximizing sensor life
  • Enables alarms at the bedside—with escalation to a central workstation when integrated into surveillance monitoring
  • Supports infection control protocols through single-patient-use sensors with a reusable chip

Powered by Clinically Proven Technology

Radius PPG is powered by Masimo SET®, the same pulse oximetry technology trusted by doctors and hospitals around the world. Recent studies highlight tetherless use cases for SET®, including general floor monitoring and the benefits of going tetherless in newborn care.

  • Improving Outcomes with SET®

Multiple studies over 10 years at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center have shown improved clinical outcomes and reduced cost of care with the implementation of SET® pulse oximetry.

    • ~50% reduction in ICU transfers1
    • ~60% reduction in rapid response team  (RRT) activations1
    • 0 preventable deaths or brain damage due to opioid-induced respiratory depression2
  • Reducing Costs with SET® and Radius PPG

In a retrospective analysis of 3.5 years of data collected from ~32K patients at a hospital with ~200 general floor beds, researchers found that use of Radius PPG with Masimo SET® pulse oximetry to continuously monitor general floor patients significantly reduced costs, with projected savings of:

    • $400K in annual saving with each 10% reduction in ICU transfers3
    • $160K in annual savings with each 10% reduction in RRT activations3
  • Supporting Safe Postnatal Care with Radius PPG

In a multi-site study, researchers found that continuously monitoring more than 2,200 newborns with Radius PPG:

    • Did not disrupt mother-child skin-to-skin bonding or interfere with standard newborn care practices
    • Detected 40 pathological events that may have otherwise gone unnoticed, including sudden unexpected postnatal collapse (SUPC), oxygen desaturation, and bradycardia

The researchers determined that tetherless monitoring “did not have any impact on the early mother-child interaction but rather, it guaranteed serenity and the possibility of rest.”4

Discover the Radius PPG System

The Radius PPG system comprises the following components:

Adhesive sensors.

Adhesive Sensor

  • Up to 100-foot Bluetooth® range from host monitor,* and up to 96 hours of data synchronization to eliminate data loss due to Bluetooth disconnection
  • Eco-friendly batteries with 4-day life
  • Eligible for the Masimo Sensor Recycling Program to support environmental sustainability

Bluetooth receivers.

Bluetooth Receiver

  • Reusable wireless receiver selected based on host monitor connection

Reusable chip for sensor.

Chip

  • Water-resistant, reusable chip for data transmission from sensor to host monitor

Masimo Root device.

Device

  • Host device to display patient data (sold separately)

* Wireless Bluetooth range based on clear line of sight.

How It Works

The chip is inserted into the adhesive sensor and communicates with the Bluetooth receiver. The receiver connects to the host device, allowing wireless transmission of real-time patient data.
